Cendrine co-founded the Silver Linings Foundation after her family’s experience supporting a child with an eating disorder. Throughout that journey, she connected with many parents and health-care practitioners who saw the same gap she did: the need for a stronger, more coordinated continuum of care for eating disorders in Alberta. Silver Linings was born from that shared commitment to better support families.
For 12 years, Cendrine served as Chair of the Board, helping guide the organization’s growth and deepen its impact in the community. She now continues her involvement as Past Chair.
Cendrine brings extensive expertise in finance, management, and organizational governance, built through her work in financial services and the high-tech health-care sector. With more than
25 years of experience in not-for-profit operations and oversight—across both board and executive committee roles—she remains dedicated to improving access to mental health resources for individuals and families across Alberta.

MD, MSc (Family Medicine Resident)
Carlie is the newest board member of the Calgary Silver Linings Foundation, bringing a combination of lived experience, clinical training, and a research background to the organization. A first-year Family Medicine resident, Carlie’s 17 years of recovery from anorexia nervosa has profoundly shaped her commitment to improving early detection of eating disorders. Having required out-of-country treatment due to limited resources in Alberta at the time, she carries a deep understanding of the challenges families face in accessing timely, specialized care.
She completed an MSc in Community Health Sciences, publishing research that highlighted missed opportunities to identify eating disorders in the emergency department. Her commitment to patient-centered care led her to Family Medicine, which offers both continuity and a unique opportunity to identify eating disorders and other mental illnesses at an early stage, given that primary care is often the first point of contact for patients.
Carlie first connected with the Silver Linings Foundation in 2016 as a volunteer, helping coordinate Eating Disorders Awareness Week for several years. She brings to the board a blend of professional insight and personal understanding, along with a strong commitment to advancing Silver Linings’ mission of expanding access to compassionate, high-quality eating disorder care.
Outside of medicine, Carlie is a busy mom to her two-year-old son and is eagerly preparing to welcome another baby boy early next year. She enjoys spending time with loved ones, staying active, travelling, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.
Strategic Plan
2025-2028
SLF stands at a pivotal moment. With a mission to ignite hope and improve recovery outcomes across Alberta by evolving care, expanding access, and increasing understanding of eating disorders, we now look ahead to a future defined by provincial reach, diversified funding, and expanded programming. This strategic plan reflects the collective insight of our board, staff, and community, and outlines a coordinated set of actions designed to strengthen our competitive advantage in fulfilling our mission.
STRATEGIC PRIORITY 1:
Evolving Care
Eating disorders require a continuum of care that adapts to individual needs. SLF will broaden its programming to serve more adults, introduce intensive outpatient options, and enhance accessibility across service modalities. Innovation in delivery will improve outcomes and meet the evolving needs of our community.
STRATEGIC PRIORITY 2:
Expanding Province-Wide Access
SLF’s success in Calgary highlights the urgent need for accessible, specialized eating disorder care across Alberta. Many Albertans—particularly in rural and underserved regions—continue to face barriers to treatment. Expanding our geographic footprint and visibility will ensure our mission reaches every corner of the province and positions SLF as a provincial leader in recovery navigation and community support.
STRATEGIC PRIORITY 3:
Increasing Understanding
Raising awareness of Silver Linings and eating disorders is essential to reduce stigma, foster understanding, and expand access to care. By elevating our visibility, we can build stronger community support, influence policy, and reach those who need us most.
STRATEGIC PRIORITY 4:
Achieving Operational Excellence
SLF’s growth, impact, and long-term sustainability depend on a resilient organizational foundation—one that integrates financial strength with human capacity. While philanthropy and grant funding have fueled our early success, future excellence requires a diversified and sustainable funding model that includes government support and strategic revenue development. Equally vital is our commitment to attracting, developing, and retaining an exceptional team of staff and volunteers.
